HEALTH ISSUES LINKED TO OBESITY

Over 300 people die every day from obesity in the USA alone.

The next time you hear someone claim that you can "be fat and healthy" just remind yourself of this list...and bear in mind that this is a PARTIAL list.


Obesity puts you at a high risk of;

Heart disease

Stroke

High blood pressure

Diabetes

Gallbladder disease and gallstones

Osteoarthritis

Gout

Sleep apnea

asthma

High LDL cholesterol, low HDL cholesterol, or high levels of triglycerides (Dyslipidemia)

Type 2 diabetes

Gallbladder disease

Osteoarthritis (a breakdown of cartilage and bone within a joint)

Breathing problems

Mental illness such as clinical depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders

Body pain and difficulty with physical functioning


Cancers


Meningioma (Cancer in brain & spinal cord)

Multiple myeloma (cancer of blood cells)

Thyroid cancer

stomach cancer

Breast (in women past menopause)

Colon and rectum.

Endometrium (lining of the uterus)

Excess body fat might affect:


Immune system function and inflammation

Levels of certain hormones, such as insulin and estrogen

Factors that regulate cell growth, such as insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1)

Proteins that influence how the body uses certain hormones, such as sex hormone-binding globulin

Can one be fat and healthy? Sure.
Until they are not.
